Many Christians over the past centuries have held the belief that Christians should not drink alcohol, smoke or take known harmful drugs for pleasure.

Alcohol has received most attention in the past. Many of the drugs known today are comparatively new but the principles are the same for drugs, cigarettes and alcohol.

This strongly held view that Christians should abstain from taking drugs* or drinking alcohol is for two reasons.
